The situation is degrading fast. There has been a lot of shooting in town until about 40 minutes ago. Since then, there is silence. You could hear a pin drop. Rumours are rife, but there are some confirmed reports of CNDP rebels on the outskirts of town. MONUC is evacuating their staff to Rwanda.

For God’s sake, what is going on? I have just spoken to Sam who is with other 50 people inside FAO’s compound, trying to protect themselves….and waiting. This is just so frustrating, we are here sitting and reading the blog, waiting for a miracle to happen. What does it take to stop these Rwandan rebels?
I have just seen it video of national geographic on the current events of this day.. Our televisions also showed us images of these battles… We are anxious for you. Be careful
I can’t believe this craziness. I hope Sam and the others can remain safe whereever they are. Please update us when you can. Thank you.
I can’t believe the world stands by - well perhaps I can. Don’t tell me no-one outside DRC could see this coming. It’s not just Nkunda who knew what he was planning to do.
Just keep yourselves safe everyone - just feel so useless, so far away.
Thinking of you all, every second.
Hi Emmanuel, Sam, Diddy, Innocent, Amir, Pierre, and everyone else, I heard that monuc was evacuating only non essential staff… seems like a terrible situation. Please let us know how we can help from Kenya. We’re on stand by for you all. Stay safe.
