I paid a visit to the orphans this morning with Dr. Jacques and Directeur Mushenzi to make sure that everything was okay on that side. Ndeze and Ndakazi are in very good shape, playing furiously with Richard Ndakazi and Patrick Sadiki, their carers. Richard and Patrick were looking a little tired from the feistiness of the two little gorillas in their care.
It was wonderful to see how much they had grown, and how strong they have become. It was a fantastic release from the tensions of the past week.

OK, according to CNN the world has finally realized that something’s going on in Congo: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/11/02/congo.conflict/index.html
There’s also a Time magazine story: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1855735,00.html

Yes, Mapendo is very well. Infact she managed to climb out of her compound into the big wide world, so they had to make adjustments to her compound. She’s on very good form. Big strong girl.
They look so good and so happy. Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that Mapendo is doing good too. Lisa
I’m so glad to hear that Mapendo is doing well and glad she didn’t get far into the big, wide world. Thanks!

Great to hear a little normality and good news to creep into your lives at last, hopefully more to come!
[...] were really pleased to read today when Emmanuel confirmed that despite the conflict, he has been able to visit the babies and that they and their caretakers [...]
Great! Yes, like Sheryl said, how is Mapendo doing?
How great to see these little guys so carefree and happy! Thanks for posting the video.
What a wonderful start to my day…they are just adorable — so healthy and strong!…and boy do they love their humans!!! I am so happy to hear Mapendo is doing well and is also healthy…perhaps we can see her next? I realize you have explained this before, I but I cannot remember the answer…why can’t Mapendo be integrated with Ndakasi and and Ndze? I know they are different types of gorillas, but is that the main issue?
They are so cute and look healthy and vivid. Great, Thank you for sharing this!
amazing!
I am thrilled the babies and their caregivers are doing well. My heart goes out to all the people who have been so badly affected by the war. My prayers for peace for you all continue.
Please… I`m brazilian journalist and I need to know about gorillas baby Ndeze and Ndakari. Are they safe? How are they? In the moment I`m making a campaign for gorillas mountain (RDC)in the Brazil. I sent releases to midia about gorillas situation. I`m very worried with gorillas orphans of RDC.
