We found the Kabirizi family this morning without too many problems, but it was not so easy to to get near the female Mahisho, who was being closely protected by the silverback Kabirizi.
However, at one moment he was distracted and I got close enough to take the following pictures of the new arrival. I can’t tell if it is a boy or a girl yet, but it cannot be more than 2 days old:

Thank you Innocent! The newest member of the family is absolutely precious! Keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well. His daddy was probably proud! I am looking forward to the naming of the newest member. Thanks again for the beautiful photos!

What an adorable little gorilla baby.. She/he looks so content having mummy’s protecting arms around her/him.
It’s quite comforting to see that life goes on and these gorillas have been able to cope despite all the unrest around them.
