Today I ordered 30 school desks & benches with your donations! Thank you to each of you who has contributed to this project.
Since 16 Feb - when I posted the contributions to date for the school furniture - we have received more donations to help the future Gorilla Guardians…
This is the first building with 3 classrooms that is now complete.
Recent donations are: Daria M: 1 desk & bench and 1 school seat; Happy Hollow Zoo: 1 desk & bench; Iris P: 3 desks & benches; Jacina B: 3 desks & benches and 3 school seats; Mattias L: 4 desks & benches.
This brings the total to date to:
24 Desks & Benches
5 School Seats (remember it is 3 school seats to 1 desk & bench)
So I figured if I have nearly 26 desks & benches paid for THANKS TO YOU I will go ahead and order 30 and they will be ready for the inauguration of the school this coming Sunday, 22nd March.
Thanks again everyone… this makes a huge difference. I still need nearly 117 desks & benches (147 in total) so please continue to support the kids of Rumangabo.
And this is the second building with 4 classrooms. It should be totally done by Sunday.
The Murry Foundation as you all know has paid for the construction of the school which comes in at around $80,000 (it’s about $11,000 per classroom). Sunday will be a big day with the local chiefs, the provicial authorities, ICCN and of course the teachers and kids. Unfortunately Adam Murry himself cannot make it - but he will be coming out later in the year to open another project he is also financing in the park. Linda Nunn from G4G is arriving on Thurs for the event… as are hopefully others from far and wide!
Will keep you posted on how Sunday goes, and thanks again.

Hello Samantha! I’m glad to see the school almost finished and will be with all of you in thought on Sunday. Iris
The schools look wonderful! These kids really deserve this. I will be with you all in thought. What a great celebration for the kids!
It will indeed be quite a day I hope… the carpenter is frantically making the benches! Faustin by the way got back to Goma last Thursday and is with his family and siblings mourning the loss of their father.
