More Photos of the Gorilla Baby (and a slight correction….)
Yesterday I went to see the Humba Group to check on the gorilla that was born over the weekend. We found the group after 2 hours and I approached the female who had a newborn baby. Unlike on Sunday when Pierre and Martin visited the group, the female let me have a good look at her.
I was surprised when I realised that it wasn’t Gashangi I was looking at, but actually Bonane! Pierre and Martin had made a mistake, which is easy to do in these difficult field conditions.
As some of you have already mentioned in your comments, we did think that Bonane was pregnant, so this isn’t a complete surprise.
This is the first time Bonane has given birth, but by the looks of it she seems to know what she is doing as a mother. The baby was doing fine too and busy feeding as I took these photos.
