We are very busy at the moment conducting anti-poaching patrols in areas you have sponsored in the Gorilla Sector. The Rangers’ tireless work of removing snares is essential in order to keep the forest clear and safe for the mountain gorillas.
This team of Rangers found 150 snares in a single day
News coming in from across the border in Rwanda underline the importance of these efforts. Dr Lucy Spelman from MGVP has reported a recent spate of cases involving gorillas caught in snares, most recently last week when a six-year-old female was found with a snare around her right arm:

This year we have been lucky not to have had a similar case on the Congolese side of the border, but it is only a matter of time unless we all do something to prevent it. We must eliminate this threat to the mountain gorillas.

Great job, Rangers! I am shocked though at the number of snares retrieved. I would have never guessed there could be so many! It’s a wake up call on just how important sponsoring a section is. I feel priveledged to be a part of this. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do!
Thanksfull for this great work. This number shocks everyone!!!
