It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that I am leaving my post here at Virunga National Park. This is my last week before I go home and I am spending it in what I think is one of the most beautiful places in the world, Bukima.
I would like to thank you all for your support on this blog, both moral and financial. I would also like to pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the Rangers who risk their lives to protect the unique wildlife of Virunga.

Thanks so much for all your hard work, Pierre. Your dedication was inspiring. Beside all of us humans, I know there is a baby chimp and baby gorilla that are especially thankful you came to Congo. You will certainly leave Virunga a better place for having been there.
Happy trails!
I will really miss your wonderful posts. The style and clarity of your articles and your beautiful photos have given me a real sense of a connection with these wonderful creatures from thousands of miles away. I hope you are going on to do other wonderful things.
All the best Pierre with your future life and career. Your posts will be missed by so many of us from around the world. The forests of Virunga and the gorillas will be always be in your heart wherever you are.
Thank you Pierre for all hard work and the dedication you have put into it. Through your videos, pictures and stories more and more people now know about Virunga and it’s awesome mountain gorilla families.
All the best for any further challenges and projects you will be working with.
By the way, what are your plans going forward?
We will miss you lots. Been great working with you, and wish you all the best. Karibu anytime, if you find yourself in Kenya. Take Care
Thanks everyone! Not yet sure what I am doing next, other than a long, long vacation!
Bon chance!
You´ll always be involved with this, Pierre. You were so lucky to be there, although you had to come across hard circumstances.
I wonder how will you say goodbye to the gorilla families…
The best for you, Pierre!
You will be missed Pierre, by the rangers and the Virunga team of course, but also by all of us you have followed your adventure in Africa over the past months. You say you have no plans beyond a long vacation. Sounds like a good plan to me! I’m sure the future will take care of itself, and that great adventures lie ahead. But don’t forget the old but accurate cliché: you can take the man out of Africa but not Africa out of the man. Good luck and fair winds for whatever comes next. Stay safe and have fun…..

Thank you for sharing Virunga through your words and photos, Pierre. Wishing the best for your remaining days in the Congo and beyond. Be well.
