The Forest Home of the Gorilla Orphans - A Plan
Here is a plan of the Senkwekwe Centre, as drawn by Katya. It’s fairly self-explanatory, but you can see the observation platform that is already complete at the top (east). The thick black lines are those of the walls that are already complete. As you know we are still raising the funds for the Education Center and Veterinary Laboratories. And of course the Gorilla Sector, aka Mikeno Sector, is only a stone’s throw away!

So that entire area will be opened up once the outer walls are complete? Or will the girls be staying in the smaller enclosure for some time yet?
Hi Rebecca. Yes - the entire area will be opened up once the 2 outer walls are complete. The orphans will then have a pretty large area in which to roam. The idea will be though that areas get partitioned off, so that the vegetation can recover - a sort of crop rotation principle applied to the new home of Ndeze & Ndakasi.
