GET A BEAUTIFUL VIRUNGA SCREENSAVER, POSTCARDS, AND DESKTOP PHOTOS WHEN YOU DONATE THIS MONTH!
For Virunga National Park, this holiday season finds us all as thankful as ever, despite the terrible events of this year and the temporary closing of tourism. Although war has once again threatened this most amazing place, people from around the world have jumped into action to help save the park’s endangered mountain gorillas and other natural wonders, and for this we feel incredibly fortunate. Virunga’s dedicated rangers simply couldn’t manage without the support of people like you. Whether patrolling the jungles and savannas of Virunga or making donations from half a world away, we are all part of the same team.
For Virunga’s rangers, the job is never done, so we hope you will keep them in mind when you give gifts this holiday season. While we get together with family and loved ones, they will be out risking all to protect Virunga. Please consider giving the gift of a Virunga donation to someone close to you (or) simply give a gift to Virunga National Park yourself. With all that is at stake in Virunga — and the sacrifices that have been made to save it — there simply isn’t a more meaningful gift.
One of 4 postcards you can download and print to give with your gift donation.
This year when you make a holiday donation via this website, you will receive an email that includes links to printable gift-postcard downloads. These postcards contain a thank you from the park, but also a place for you to personalize the message, should you wish to do so.
A downloadable screensaver and 6 computer wallpaper photos available for download.
Our gift to you is downloadable Virunga National Park computer wallpaper photos, plus a screensaver which contains breathtaking images of the park and serves as a daily reminder of why we are all working so hard to save the Virunga. It’s our first ever, so let us know what you think. You will find the links in the same email you receive following your donation.
From everyone at Virunga National Park, happy holidays, and thank you for helping us save Africa’s oldest and most diverse park.

Great idea! I have printed out some information about Virunga and am pestering relatives with t (makes for bulky envelopes, looks good in the mail
), and a young couple I know who are going to be married in december and were looking for somewhere to donate to (instead of presents), have asked for infos, too. I’ll give them the GEO-Magazine
Anjy, you are amazing. Thank you so much for all the work you are doing to raise supporters and awareness of the park. We are so grateful.
Donated, and will spread the word! You are all in our thoughts!
Hey Joseph. This makes you the first, I think. Can you tell me if you got the email with the link when you donated? I wasn’t able to test that out. And also, would love to know if the screensaver works for you. This is my first time making one, so just want to make certain everything works. Thanks!
Hello! I would like to get involved by having family and friends donate this holiday rather than receive presents. I would like to know if money donated to gorilla.cd works with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and the WWF? It seems that all organizations are pulling for the same cause. Do you all work together?
I did get the links and was able to download the postcard(s) and the screensaver. Happy to report the screensaver works very well. Many thanks!
I want to say thank you to those who work so hard under such difficult circumstances…you deserve much praise and respect. Thank you!
Perhaps you could open a - sort of - mini webshop? So that I - and others? - could order in financially better times?
Beside I recognise the problem / question of Raquel Torres. Would like to support the Fossey Fund and the Gorilla doctors too! Though being glad to support one of you three - this one - from time to time a bit when I can afford … Do you for instance in some way pay the gorilla doctors for their exams and treatments of the orphans and such in the Virunga’s?
Hello Raquel and Toos,
When you donate to Virunga National Park via this website, every dollar goes directly toward work on the ground – primarily ranger support and wildlife protection. WWF is a partner of the park and carries out programs in support of the park, such as a tree-planting program to help with the charcoal problem and raising awareness of the issues the park is facing. Gorilla Doctors is a direct partner of the park, providing gorilla vet care. Both organizations raise money to support their own work.
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund is not a partner of the park. They are primarily a gorilla research organization working in Rwanda and Uganda. However, they provide us with caretakers when baby gorillas are rescued from poachers and brought to the park for quarantine.
Toos, are you asking for a way to purchase the screensaver/postcards/desktop photos?
The screensaver works perfectly on my laptop, the photos are stunning! Yes, I will give donation postcards for Christmas this year! Thank you, team, for this surprise!!
Thanks for your explanations!
Yes, I’m asking for a way to purchase for instance postcards in a later month. Even beside of donations, I would like to! But perhaps selling these kind of things on a more regular base could generate some extra income for the park too, in times you have non from tourism?
I don’t have paypal, Piet Schutter gave me your British account to donate on. Could this work for such as postcards too?
Thank you for your reply!
Hi there
I’ve been trying to make a donation on your ‘one time donation’ section at the top of the page, but it doesn’t seem to work and keeps resetting. Can you check it, please?
My toughts are with all of you in these troubled times.
Not much is in the recent media about the troubles, but not all have forgotten your efforts.
Keep up the fantastic work!
PS:I’m having troubles making donations.
When I fill in one of the fields, nothing is registered.
