Protecting the Mountain Gorillas of Virunga

Where is Virunga?

Virunga National Park lies in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, on the border with Uganda and Rwanda. It is almost 8,000km2 in size and is dominated in the centre by Lake Edward.

The Gorilla Sector - also known as the Mikeno Sector (in green below) - is 250km2 of the park, in the southeast corner bordering Rwanda. This map below shows the southern sector of Virunga.
